What is a Wamily?

A wamily is a place on the web for a group of people to share, interact, meet, plan, and play. You can create a wamily for friends, family, teams, organizations, social groups, church groups, towns, clubs -- any group can be a wamily. In your Wamily you get easy tools to share stuff like messages, pics, videos, ideas and web feeds.

You can also customize your wamily with wallpapers, themes and embedded content to make it look just the way you want it. Wamily was made to be free-form and flexible and so easy to use -- you don't have to know anything about HTML to design a Wamily page.

What's so new about Wamily?

Online groups aren't a new concept, but Wamily has a whole different perspective on them. Wamily has everything you'd expect in a group site plus the community features of a wiki, and social networking tools that help you find new wamilies to join and people to meet.

The Wamily World is growing every day, adding more ways to connect with your Wamilies.

What is Wamily World?

When you sign up for Wamily, you're automatically added to the the Wamily World, a place for users to meet each other and get familiar with how Wamily works. From there, you can learn more about starting a wamily of your own, or find a cool wamily to join.

What is a profile?

Your Wamily profile is your personal page on Wamily. Your profile may have your name, location, and basic stuff about you that you want to share with the whole Wamily World. Your profile allows you to interact with other Wamily members on a one-to-one basis.

Why do I need an invite?

An invitation is required to create an account on Wamily. We're still testing the initial version of the website, and we're limiting membership at this time to a group of alpha users. We're expanding our alpha group all the time -- if you want to get in on Wamily even before it's fully baked, please contact us.

Is Wamily free?

Yep!

Who started Wamily?

Check out our about us page and also our blog for more about the brains behind Wamily.

Why did you make Wamily?

Wamily was born out of a need by the two founders for a better way to keep in touch with their various groups of old friends, new friends, work friends and school friends. We thought we'd apply some of the web's coolest tools for collaboration to social networking and social groups. We then started on a mission to create something that users could truly appreciate as a tool to have fun and keep in touch with their various social groups.

We created Wamily using the incredible Ruby on Rails framework with related free and open source software.

How does Wamily make money?

Well, right now we don't make much money. Right now we're fully commited to creating something revolutionary that will change the face of online groups and social networking. Eventually we plan to support Wamily with relevent advertising and paid premium features.
